You're looking apparently at point-and-shoots. The smaller lenses do have a limit mostly of f8 on most models, but give a greater depth of field (good or bad depending on your type of photography). If you want to stick to the guns you already know about, invest a few extra dollars in a digital SLR (DSLR) such as the Nikon D40, D40x, or the Canon Rebel XTi - their variety of lenses will better match the scales and effects you are used to.
