camera that does not hesitate before snapping a picture

I am looking for a digital camera that does NOT hesitate before snapping a picture. I photograph dogs a lot and that small hesitation can cost me a good shot. I have a Canon PowerShot A530 digital camera and it is fine, but I don't think there is anything I can do to keep it from hesitating for that half second before snapping the picture. I think the hesitation is for automatic focus and maybe to prevent redeye. Thanks.
