Try a different memory card. If a different card works, then it means the switch on the first card is defective (or the whole card is). If it's a name brand like Lexar or Sandisk, they will most likely replace it for free if you have your receipt where you bought it.
If after trying another card (or two) it's still happening, then it may be a "lockout" feature of the camera, in which case buried in the menu itself somewhere should be a choice to turn it off. You would have to contact the support number in the manual you got with it for more info on that.
