Tungsten are regular light bulbs. They produce a yellowish-amberish color in photos in some cameras. If you are in a room that is lit with standard everyday light bulbs, try that setting. Fluorescent bulbs are either in tube form like what you see in commercial buildings, or in newer screw-in types for home use. They can produce a greenish color in photos. If you know you're in a room lit by fluorescent light use this setting.
If you have no idea what type of lights a room uses, use "auto". You can adjust it later using an image editing program, such as Photoshop Elements, Paint Shop Pro, etc.
