Look for a sale on the Canon SX10 IS.

10 megapixel camera which has a 20X zoom, image stabilization, and can do prints up to 8 x 10 that look pretty good. It also has a very good video mode where it can do video at 640 x 480 and 30 frames per second with stereo sound that are excellent. Price at places like Circuit city are around $399.00.
