We adopted a 6 month old Catahoula mix from our local shelter. She has bonded with us very well and loves us and our young children. She is a cuddly lap dog and a great running buddy. Everything we could have wanted in a new puppy. She is in obedience training and is the best one in her class. She graduates on Monday. She is very intelligent and listens to us very well for a puppy. She is also house trained and crate trained.
However, she has begun having issues with other people and is exhibiting fear aggression. I never, ever thought I would ever have to look for a home for a dog that we adopted but with young children, we are scared to risk what could happen. I realize being honest about her reduces the likelihood of her being adopted but I am hoping that someone could help me. I am so lost and I just can't take her back to the shelter. Our vet has prescribed Clomipramine and we started her on it today. I just don't think we have what it takes to rehabilitate her. As hard as it is, we think we need to find a new home for her with someone who has experience with her types of issues. If there is anyone who can help, I would appreciate it more than you'll ever know. I am in tears typing this as I have been all day. Thank you. I have photos but I can't figure out how to upload them here. I'll be glad to email them to anyone interested or if anyone knows how to post them I can send the pictures to you.
