From the shelter: Tommy is an approx 2 yr old mountain cur x catahoula in a shelter in CA. He came in as a stray. He is somewhat mellow, good with other dogs, very tolerant and friendly. We have seen Tommy play with a cat at the shelter which was something to see. Tommy pulls on the leash a little while walking when he wants to meet another dog, otherwise he is good on a leash. he is a big boy, but would make a nice family dog, quick learner and eager to please. From our CRI Coordinator, Janeen Jackson: I love his intelligent looking eyes...so alive and sensitive and kind. HE IS NOT PIT......MOUNTAIN CUR shows strongly and he could have no Catahoula in there. HE IS A CUR, just like the Catahoula. They were all called CURS long ago. RELATED? Possibly but we don't know. he will make a great PET, and he is in a low kill facility that is renovating and are very cramped right now for space. He has good care but he needs a home and they are pushed here so he is a HIGH PRIORITY. This dog deserves a great home! Mountain Curs are usually good with children. Middle of the line temperment. Protective of their famiies. Pretty much the same thing as a catahoula. They love to please their masters and with good leadership are loyal, obedient and content. Active dogs, not couch potatoes. Like the Catahoula, mental and physical stimulation are very important. Mountain Curs are not vicious or shy, easily trained and loyal. PLEASE CONTACT CRI/Janeen Jackson at 406-323-3519 or email her at jj4@midrivers.com for foster/adopter interest in Tommy!
