But I knew the guy who wrote the recent one was off base when he took the side opposite the Bundys, who've all been cleared of all charges. He doesn't present any different facts than were presented a year ago, just adds a lot of hysterical rhetoric to it.
The Bundys are most definitely NOT big business. Cattle grazing by longtime ranchers is going the way of the dodo. Cattle grazing by special interest groups from China is gaining a foothold. Most of Montana's cattle are now export to China. Most of Utah is "owned" by the Federal Government and the small ranchers are being "disowned" in that state. If anything, the mustang has been given special dispensation OVER cattle grazing in the past 15 years, except where Big Government has been involved.
The loss of Federal funds means the land can be ranched by American ranchers with American interests without government interference. Will that be harder on the mustangs? I don't know. But there's still NO provision of any kind to sell wild horses to slaughter by the BLM, and as far as I can find, no intention to.
It's one thing to say, "Kid, you're not getting your allowance anymore," and another to say, "Parent robs child of money, then refuses to buy him food and clothing!!" It's the same thing here. The loss of funds says, "Deal with the mustang issue in a different way, because you're not getting your allowance anymore." The people driving these opinion pieces are making the claim that the loss of funding is saying, "No money for mustangs, therefore you must kill them all." It's simply not true.
