Also, since the days when silver coins quit being minted, we've never had any coins worth more than 25 cents.
Here, if I've got a pocket full of change, the chances that the whole handful is worth more than $2.50 is pretty slim. When we were in the UK with the pound at $2.10 and two-pound coins everywhere, that same handful of change could be $40 or $50! Hard to get used to.
I wish we had something like your two-pound coin. Those things are beautiful.
