Thing is...an MOT is only representative of a vehicles condition at the instant of testing. If you leave a test centre and get pulled for say a failed light or hydraulic line for instance, the the fact it had just been tested means nothing in the eyes of the law. It's still a faulty vehicle on the road to an insurer.
I think the change in the law is a good pragmatic decision. Classic vehicle owners tend to keep their vehicles in good condition, a labour of love.
