Geoff there is a very simple way of cutting out salt, (and indeed sugar). Stop eating processed food which is full of the stuff, that is almost everything from ready meals to tinned peas and particularly crisps and other similar snacks.. DO NOT put any salt on your food, not even on your fish and chips. Eat fresh vegetables only. You will notice the reduction in flavour, imagined and not real, at first but will soon learn how good freshly prepared food really tastes. I did this years ago and it is a definite winner in the blood pressure stakes.
Do the same with sugar, and check anything in a tin or packet for sugar content, it will horrify you. Tea or coffee.......no sugar. Soft drinks are mostly a no-no as well.
Oh yes throw away the bags of sugar and packets of salt along with the salt cellar.
