Well for years I have had this 3 legged stand with a vice on it that I use to hold stuff with when I am welding - the stand is portable so can be taken outside.
The vice on it was my Grandads and I can remember as a kid venturing into his old metal framed asbestos garage with that lovely smell of gear oil / engine oil etc, and of course the vice was there attached to a small work bench in the corner.
Anyway said vice is at then end of it's life - basically worn out, and I managed to find a replacement in some of my other halfs Dads stuff.
Replacement has now been fitted, but I just cant bring myself to take the old vice to the dump, so it is now stored under one of my workbenches. Probably never see the light of day again, but I just cannot bring myself to throw it.
Is it just me or does anyone else have sentimental ties to tools that means they they can never be disposed of?
I have loads of tools that were my Dads, but they are in every day use, this vice just feels different to all the rest.
Guess I am just a sentimental old(ish) fool.
