Out on the road, a Sergeant commanded respect by being the fastest juke box racer around Penny Lane bus terminus.
The Speed Twins were low geared & flat out at 70, but the Bizzies earned bragging rights by being able to outdrag any other vehicle on the roads.
Sure there were some nasty guys, but the majority and all the bike Cops were great. Most were ex-Forces and knew how to lead and guide us and how to use their authority without messing about with forms or courts.
It all began to fall apart long after I'd left when the 1973 reorganisation came about & the final nail was hammered in the 1981 riots and looting.
