Water in the fuel makes the engine run smoother and cleans out the carbon. Take notice next time it rains. Wet weather also seems to eliminate a lot of rattles in a car.
There were even Water injectors being sold in the 1950`s. Unfortunately, they caused cylinders to rust if the car was not used regularly. Water injectors are used in racing and aircraft engines.
