Mike. I was certainly not aware that brake pads & shoes should be changed other than when they were down to the limit, I have never seen a recommendation in owners manuals etc that they should be changed after a given period if not worn down. And in my 50+ years of motoring/motorcycling have never experienced this problem before. I think its a recent result of poor quality parts manufactured in China & other Far East countries. The replacements are from Pagid & Blue Print, just marketing companies I suspect with parts sourced from the same Chinese factories. Years ago you knew that Mintex & Lockheed manufactured the parts, and were of good quality
As far Proton being a crap make, thats b******s as they are no worse than any other car these days with components being manufactured world wide.
The old Protons were based on Mitsubishi Colt and the Savvy has engine/transmission from Citroen and brakes from Daewoo Matiz. My Savvy has given good reliable service with little going wrong, a good low price no frills car.
