Nope, that won't work, because, while technically you've repaired it, and it's now no longer unroadworthy, the vehicle will still be on the system as an MOT failure, and will stay that way until it's retested and passed.
Of course you can always take your chances and try to argue the toss with Mr Policeman at the side of the road in the pouring rain, but I'd bet good money that your vehicle will end up impounded and costing you an arm and a leg for every day it's in there.
Oh, and you get a day off work to appear in court and pick up some nice points and a fine for your trouble.
