A few years back now, my regular MOT place shut up shop. So I booked in at another old style motor cycle shop. The machine was my 1914 Premier, which I unloaded off the trailer. I was then greeted by the tester, a chap a little older than myself, which I took to be a good sign. As he wheeled it towards the workshop, he pulled on the stirrup front brake, too which there was very little reaction, I don't know if he expected the rear wheel to jump off the ground, but he then said the front brake doesn't work. To which I replied, no, it didn't work eighty years ago and it doesn't work now.
I soon sensed the way things were going, and thought the next thing will be, the gas lights. So I politely made my excuses and left.
I then found an old style motor cycle shop, who did all my MOT's for many years, I didn't want any thing to be overlooked, but as long as every thing is in goon working order , I don't think older machines can be viewed in the same way as a modern one.
