For once I had no list of anythng that I "needed" wandering around I spotted one of those MZ Expansion Chambers that retail for £60 - £70 or therabouts, inquiring with the stallholder he said gimme £20 and it's yours. It was in virtually new condition so I thought why not.
I have read nothing but bad reports about these chambers but for £20 it has to be worth experimenting.
Fitted it on the ETZ this afternoon, and was pleasantly suprised to find that the bike went remarkably well with it on - seemed to rev much more freely, and the torque that normally came in at 3000 now comes in at 3500 - no big deal.
Took a look at the plug after 5 miles or so and decided to raise the needle a notch (very scientific).
Rode it around one of my regular rides and have to say that I am very happy with the ride.
Old silencer (which wasa bit tatty) has now been consigned to a shelf in the garage.
One other thing it seems to have all but eliminated the little bit of surging it had on the overrun - not a bad result for a £20 chamber.
