My guess is a bullet connector came loose as you pulled cables around and the male part of it moved to contact the headlamp shell or the frame or anything earthed. Cue high currents but with the resistance of that dodgy connection not high enough to blow the fuse. 25A at 12v is however 300 watts which can do damage in small areas.
The fix is remake that connection
The real fix is to check all connections and make them fail safe. This means the male part of the bullet connector is on the earth side and the female part, the bit with the insulation round it, is on the 12V side. Then if one parts again and the exposed bit of the connector touches the frame, its earth to earth only, which is safe
