You need to check the charging rate with headlights on. Whilst there maybe sufficient output from generator with lights off, the extra power required for the ignition coil (2amps) may not be enough with lights on. The alternator on the Beagle will be fairly low output anyway. It may be possible to wire in the LT ignition source coil to lighting/charging coils to boost output.
Personally I would leave it as standard but fit a modern external ac ignition coil. A far better solution if you have have the skill and facilities (lathe/milling m/c) to fit a Honda C90 of Yamaha Townmate fywheel mag system.
