As I was developing the IKBA Academic Certification Regime, some dozen years ago, it seemed appropriate to have a portfolio of domain names.
Subsequently, the back-office of Real Classic was transfering over to Mortons back office, for entirely sensible, indeed essential reasons a new message board domain was required.
I'd put RealMart onto 1and1.co.uk, the domain hosting service I'd used for some years and suggested it would be better if he, rather than I, registered the more commercial sounding IKBA.co.uk., with a waiver on copyright and other IP on IKBA from me. He did this & it is still registered with 1and1.
The decision to use Boardhost was entirely Mart's.
Recently we had been exchanging messages about the ebay ads slowing the board down, but he was limited in doing anything serious to fix it by feeling unwell.
I am more than happy to transfer the hosting of IKBA.co.uk into my portfolio of domain names with 1and1 and to add it to my company's account, where it will be funded. I can also talk to 1and 1 about optimising cost and boardhosting opportunities.
Managing the current message board is not a skill or experience I can offer.
As Mart ran his own business, the matter of his estate may be somewhat complex - he may not have got around to making full arrangements. Whatever the details, the domain name is likely to form part of his assets captured by his estate. Any transfer of the domain name would have to be initiated by the executor of his estate. A transfer to my account would avoid any potential complication relating to copyright. (.org.uk was registered more than 3 years ahead of .co.uk).
I'm happy to volunteer to liaise with Mart's family to ensure that his memory is served well and that any benefit to his estate is secured.
Please don't read this as harsh or cold-hearted, I'm wrecked by the loss of a great friend.
