It was good because every day I commuted was an opportunity to spend an hour and 10 minutes (45 mile round trip) on a motorcycle. Most of the ride was pretty good until I hit the city, then it wasn't so nice. But definitely something to look forward to each day.
On the other hand, it took much longer each day to get back and forth to work if I used the bike. If I was in the car, it's walk outside, open the car door, get in, turn the key (where I live I never have to take the key out of the ignition), and go.
If I'm on the bike, it's put in the earplugs, put on the eyeshades, you know where to put the cork .... well, no cork, but jacket, boots, make sure I have the raingear, put on and buckle helmet, and then do it all again at work, and all again when it's time to go home. It can get to be a lot of extra time.
At any rate, that phase of my life is past now, I enjoyed it but I don't miss it ...
