Back to a particular part of the topic, it's still thought that a great number, if not most pensioners are poor. It's a paradigm that stems from the days when most working people made just enough money to get by each week, rented their dwellings, council or private slum standard (like the house I grew up in) and relied on basic employers pension schemes and the meagre old age pension when they retired to again, get by.
In reality, just look at what us guys get up to in our retirement with multiple motorcycles, multiple holidays(and I'm not talking about a week in a caravan at Rhyl), cruises, motorhomes and other wallet emptying durables.
So, the wealth curve has changed and we should not complain at paying full price at events, the discount is peanuts to most of us!
