>It's always the same when I return from Race meetings on a Sunday evening it's always either the M40 or M25 that I dread and it's very seldom that I get a clear run on these two roads.
I first noticed this more than ten years ago, pre-recession. Then it was explained to me that London drew millions for work that simply couldn't afford to bring their families, hence the traffic down all the main roads on a Sunday evening. Maybe this is just another sign the recession's over, at least in London?
>maybe not doing anymore bike collection work as I just find it too frustrating trying to get around the London outskirts.
Have you considered Andy's suggestion, of doing at least journeys in and out of London at night? Since moving to the Highlands in 2014, on my own I never do a journey to or from the south in daylight; as you say, too frustrating. Quickest time I've done between near Aviemore and London or south is nine hours ... and the Dartford Crossing's free between 10 pm and 6 am.
