My NHS post"
Last week I had what turned out to be a kidney infection. After several hours of increasing pain. I woke my wife and asked her to ring 999. This she did and was told the Ambulance would not come. So she rang 111, which for the first time came up trumps! 20 mins after she rang a Dr arrived at the door at 2.30am. Checked me over, rang West Suffolk Hospital and told them I was on the way. Organised the ambulance. I was seen within a few minutes at the Hospital. Anti- biotics infussion straight away. Up to a ward within an hour. 4days of infussions and blood tests. Then sent home on the Home Ward Scheme. You are monitered on line with various bits of electronc gear. A nurse visits you eveyday and you can contact them any time if you have a problem. All in all one of my best stays. All the staff were great, nothing was to much trouble. If you can avoid Kidney infection. The pain is up there with passing Kidney stones. micW
