I would say i have had just one litre and been using it for 10 years after buying it at 8 pounds at the NEC. I spray the alloy rims and chrome of the BSA Spitfire every Winter. I dont always go out in weather with salt around but if i did, i would also rinse it off and coat it again.
Even that cheap maintenance spray GT 185 is pretty good keeping rust out. You could also look at Wurth products usually used in the motor trade. They sell many anti corrosive liquids and coatings.
I spray my large Ajax pillar drill with any penetrating type oil i pick off the shelf. A lot of bare metal on that centre shaft.
So Lav, there are so many options now but anything oily will keep the oxygen away from the iron bits
