I have been selling a lot of household goods recently and,of course, some are just too big to post so i put collection only. One item,i could barely lift, being a giant brass clock. An Irishman won the bid but was unable to collect or pay the £40 wanted for posting. |
Now,i have a Chinese teapot and the bidder was from China, post cost is £60 which is double his bid.
When i buy from China, post is extremely low but posting to them is high.I am guessing they have a subsidised postal system.
Not had to post a double bed yet though.
For the most part, buyers have been prepared to travel from Wales and the South East to collect goods.Journeys of well over 300 miles return so i have found it an excellent way to clear all the furnishings so far.Local charity shops have received a lot of the small items.
Its only when a bidder does not read collection only that this selling becomes difficult.
Today i am delivering some gear myself to Paignton as it is cheaper than a courier for that local distance.
