I too hope it will survive for many years to come. Clubs are necessary to support our hobby and members have the freedom to be involved in activities or not as they desire. |
For people running a club, usually a committee, most if not all are volunteers and I would suggest that not many clubs have more than one candidate (usually the incumbent) for a particular post at AGM time! As such you get what you vote for.
Enjoy whichever club you may belong to and what they have to offer, but remember, the Officers, Committee Members or whatever you call them are giving up a valuable asset- their free time- so need support not criticism.
I don't know if the VMCC chairman was a salaried employee or a volunteer, but the democratic process has produced a result and assuming a new Chairman was elected then I sincerely hope all members are right behind him/her and encourage him/her in their difficult role. I hope members don't make it more difficult by criticising or condemning the decisions made.
Long may VMCC and all classic bike clubs live!
