A handmade tablecloth is a wonderful idea, not that hard, just takes a long time. Also, some people make real nice doilies and then mount them on black velvet and frame them. I have done this with flowers and cat tails and leaves that I have crocheted.
How about a special afghan with their initials in the center?
I have put doilies inside big brass hoops too, hung crystals in the center. It makes a stunning sun catcher/window ornament.
You can crochet curtains too.Certain door windows look wonderful with these, or even kitchen windows.
