Mauritian Cuisine: help on unknown recipe

I once had the most delicious Mauritian meal of beef and rice, I believe, made for me, however I'm not completely sure of the name of the dish and therefore can not make it for myself. I am going on pronunciation and what I can recall... I realise this may be of very little help though my understanding is that it was pronounced something like "au guay, or gae" something to this effect.
If there is anyone who may have any knowledge of what this recipe could be it would be most appreciated.
