Those Dam Bulldogs "Just Like Lays"[You Just Cant Own "One"]
Posted by Julia on 12/22/2005, 5:30 pm After being contacted by members of English Bulldog rescues about OEB and alternative bulldogs in their shelter, I was appalled to find that there were no rescues in place for alternative bulldog breeds! I’ve contacted David and Nan Greenly and they have expressed interest in helping me set up a network for rescues. I’ve also heard from Tim Kelley of the OEBKC. This is what I need from breeders before we can even start. Please, if you are interested in helping out, e-mail me with the following information so that I can pass it on to Nan and Tim after the hectic holidays are over and we can progress from there: Would you be willing to take in rescues? Where are you located, and are you willing to travel to obtain a dog? How far? How many, and for how long? Do you have limitations (dog must be good with kids, cats, horses, etc?) I’m currently trying to make a complete list of companies that transport animals, and seeing how interested they are in helping get dogs from point a to b if there is no one nearby. I’m also locating bulldog rescues and letting them know what we’re trying to do. Remember, this is a baby and a network, not a non-profit organization. It will not work without people helping. I’d also love some input as to how you think we could go about testing the temperaments of these dogs, and finding new forever homes for them. I don’t want to see one alternative bulldog in a shelter or a fight pit!
