The Millennium Sunday & Millennium Upland Slow Pitch League will be sending a total of 12 teams to the 1st Annual ASA of PA District 6 "Champs for Cancer" Classic.
"Champs for Cancer" could have a name change once the new charity the proceeds will benefit is announced and the new sponsor (who will have naming rights) of the raffle ticket is also announced in the coming weeks.
I have an appointment on Tuesday, with the charity that will benefit from what has averaged nearly $25,000 in recent years from the raffle.
The invitational tournament will be open to Men's Slow Pitch teams in District 6 (Delaware & Chester counties) and will be played at the Kelly Fields Softball Complex in West Chester.
The complex is well maintained and has two 300' fenced fields with lights.
Teams must be from a registered ASA of PA league in order to participate in the tournament.
Already a tournament committee has been set-up and much of the planning is completed for what will be a first, as teams from the ASA of PA District 6 (Delaware & Chester Counties) get together to raise money for a charitable cause and play to decide championships in both "Competitive" and "Rec" Divisions.
The tournament has been scheduled for Saturday, August 23rd & Sunday, August 24th, so there will be no conflict for teams or players who may want to participate in "Champs n Charity", which is scheduled the week before.
The tournament will have a $150 entry fee for all teams.
There will be an open draw conducted prior to the tournament at which all the teams will be invited.
ASA of PA District 6 umpires will be paid cash on the field immediately after their games are completed.
The raffle ticket, without doubt, is the best ever and will be available for teams to sell earlier then ever before, to help with the fundraising effort of the the tournament.
More information will follow as it becomes available.
