NOTE: Only the "Gold Flight" of the 2008 Millennium/Bats Plus Early Bird Tournament will play NASF/ASA and be allowed the use of the following bats.
All current ASA Approved 98 or 100 mph bats will be allowed as well as any bat with an approved BPF rating of 1.20 (ASA 100+) approved by the other associations will be allowed. The bats must be marked with the 1.20 rating.
Remember, the Miken Ultra and Miken Ultra-II are still not allowed to be used by these other associations either and not allowed in NASF play.
Bats made specifically for the Senior Softball Associations are also not allowed as these bats may have a 1.20 rating, but they are designed to achieve optimum flex with a slower bat speed than required by other softball bats. Most bats are designed to achieve optimum flex at bat speeds of 95 mph or more, which means the average senior player never attains optimum performance from their bat. In designing a bat specifically for senior softball players, they have created a bat that achieves optimum flex at a lower bat speed. These kind of bats are not allowed in non-senior league or tournament play for these obvious reasons.
