"And now for something completely different" the Monty Python's Flying Circus catch phrase, might also apply to the 2008 Charity Challenge Home Run Derby.
No, for this home run derby you won't need to bring your bat, but you still will need to make a $20 donation to the American Cancer Society.
So, instead of swinging for the fences, you'll be rooting for one of the top 25 Major League Baseball home run leaders to hit one heck of a lot of home runs in the month of September.

Here's how you can participate in the Charity Challenge Home Run Derby.
1. Make a $20 donation to the American Cancer Society.
2. You will then select a sealed envelope that will have inside the name of one of the top 25 MLB home run leaders as of 8-8-08.
3. If the name of the player in the envelope you select hits the most home runs in the month of September, then you're the winner of a prize that will be announced soon.
It's that simple, and the American Cancer Society could have another $500 flow into its coffers.
Plus everyone who enters the contest will receive a $10 gift card to BC Sports, who is a sponsor of the Charity Challenge raffle ticket and a leader in sports memorabilia, with stores in the tri-state area, including Havertown.
That's a pretty good deal for what amounts to be a $10 entry fee and you'll be helping the fundraising efforts of the 2008 Daily Local/Sunoco Charity Challenge Championship for the American Cancer Society.
The Charity Challenge Home Run Derby will open to the first 25 participates who enter begining this Friday, August 8th.
