The Times Herald newspaper, which covers news, sports and features in Norristown, PA and Montgomery County, has joined the Daily Local News out of West Chester, PA and Chester County to provide coverage of the 2008 Daily Local/Sunoco Charity Challenge Championship, which benefits the American Cancer Society.
Thanks to Steve Dimitry, the ASA of PA State Slow Pitch Commissioner, who contacted his friend and editor Stan Huskey, the Times Herald will now be providing coverage of the Women's Division of the tournament that will begin on Saturday, August 23rd thru Sunday, August 24th and is being played at the Norristown Softball Complex (using both Heels and Simons Fields).
Both newspapers are owned by the Journal Register Company.
The tournament is open to teams from the ASA of PA Southeastern Area, which include the following districts.
ASA of PA Southeastern Area
District 2 - Dauphin, Lancaster & Lebanon Counties
District 6 - Chester & Delaware Counties
District 14 - Montgomery County
District 15 - Bucks County
The tournament director for the Women's Division is Steve Dimitry, assisted by District 14 Commissioner Sully Gelet.
The team entry fee is $150.
Checks are made payable to the American Cancer Society.
