The 2008 Charity Challenge Home Run Derby begins today with the top 25 MLB home run leaders as of 8-22-08 going to bat for the participates whose $20 entry fee helped raise an additional $500 for the fundraising efforts of the Inaugural Daily Local/Sunoco Charity Challenge Championship for the American Cancer Society.
If the player the contestants selected from a sealed envelope hits the most home runs in the month of September, then that person will win a pair of Phillies playoff tickets and a seat from Veterans Stadium, courtesy of BC Sports.
In the event the Phillies don't reach postseason play, the winner would receive $100 cash in lieu of the playoff tickets.
Plus everyone who entered the contest received a $10 gift card to BC Sports, the leader in sports memorabilia, with stores in the tri-state area, including Havertown.
