Here are the results of the doubleheader between the Eagles Den Sports Bar & Jimmy Mac's Bar and Grille who opened the Inaugural Season of the Millennium Furey Men's Fall Softball League last Thursday night.
In the first game in league history, Eagles Den Sports Bar defeated Jimmy Mac's Bar and Grille by the score of 15-1.
Eagles Den was led by Gary Johnston and Billy Gilman, who both had 3 hits and D.J. Lauro who hit the first home run in the new league as the team never looked back after scoring 10 runs in the third inning, giving Chris Helms plenty of support in helping him record the first "W" by a pitcher.
In the nightcap, Brian Palmore and pitcher Mike "Bump" Dinella got the bats going again for Eagles Den, with Dinella earning the win, and with R.J. Giordano throwing some leather at 3rd base, the Eagles Den went on to sweep the doubleheader with a 11-6 win.
Although it's early, Manager Dave Cericola Jr. has put together a team that has the look of being a contender for the league title.
The league is being assigned by ASA of PA District 6 Delaware County Deputy Commissioner Bob Canfield, whose umpire association did such a fine job in working the Millennium Upland Slow Pitch League over the Summer.
