Daily Times Summer Softball: Millennium League Roundup - Dickens, Pettit primary candidates in sweep
Gary Dickens couldn't find any donkeys to beat, so he took his frustration out on Leary's Pub.
Dickens went 3-for-3 with a home run, a double, four RBIs and three runs Sunday to lead the Milmont Republican Club to a 16-4 victory in the first game of a sweep over Leary's in a Millennium Softball League doubleheader.
Jim Wood finished 3-for-4 with three RBIs and two runs, while Charlie Nevin also went 3-for-4 with a double and three RBIs in Game 1.
In the second game, a 12-1 decision for the Fighting Republicans, Bob Pettit went 3-for-3 with a triple, a double and four RBIs, while Don Haven finished 2-for-2 with a triple and three RBIs. Haven was also the winning pitcher.

Della Polla's Tavern 16-7, Campbell's Boathouse 15-17: Kevin McGlone had a home run and six RBIs to lead Della Polla's to its win. Jamie Apple supplied three hits and drove in the winning run.

Woodland Supply 19-11, The Thirsty Bulldog 8-8: Woodland's Chris Melnychuk and Bob Smith combined to go 6-for-6 with two home runs, two doubles and eight RBIs in Game 1.
In the second game, Melnychuk added four more hits, including two long balls, and finished with five RBIs. Jeff Bascelli chipped in with a 3-for-3 performance.

Sawloon Pub 19-17, R.P. McMurphy's Bar & Grill 14-18: Steve DiValerio went 4-for-4 with three RBIs and two runs for R.P. McMurphy's in the Game 2 victory.
Jason Travaglini finished 4-for-5 with three runs and three RBIs, while Butch Wood added three hits, two RBIs and four runs, and Jason Bradford went 3-for-4 with two runs and an RBI.

Mudsharks 9-5, Pogue Mahone's Pub II 5-4: Bobby Lapenta went 3-for-3 with two RBIs in Game 1 for the Mudsharks, while Bryan Andalluci added a home run and four RBIs.
The Mudsharks rallied to win the second game. Eliton Santos finished 3-for-3, while Carl Andalluci had at least two hits. We at the Daily Times couldn't tell if Andalluci had two or three hits, or if Bryan Andalluci had three or four hits in Game 1, because the game report had them going 3-for-2 and 4-for-3, respectively. Wharf Tavern 13-12, Untouchables 7-7: Jim Coughlin had three hits and Cory Batholdi had four hits and four RBIs to lead Wharf in Game 1.
In the second game, Jose Cruz smacked a three-run home run and Larry Waterfield, Neil Williams and Paul Marsh all chipped in with three hits. Williams added four RBIs, while Marsh had a home run.

Mighty Ducks 9-9, Parks Entertainment 6-10: Neither Charlie Conway nor Adam Banks were available for the Mighty Ducks, so coach Gordon Bombay called on Pat Adair and Joe Carlile to lead the team to the win in Game 1.
Adair went 3-for-3 with a double, a triple, two runs and three RBIs, while Carlile also finished 3-for-3 with three runs scored, a double and an RBI.
Mike Williamson had a walk-off hit, scoring Jay Leaver, to lift Parks Entertainment in Game 2. Ray McHenry went 3-for-4 with two runs and two RBIs, while Daryl Carlen had a monster, 1-for-2 performance.

Boulevard Bar & Grille 18-20, Columbo Lounge 8-17: Bill Masterson had a two-run home run, two triples and finished with six RBIs to lead Boulevard in Game 1. Ed Kapusta also had three hits and chipped in with a run.
In the second win for Boulevard, Chris Owens hit for the cycle and finished with six RBIs. Matt Skarren went 3-for-3 with three runs, a double and an RBI.

A. Marinelli & Sons Building Supply 16-11, Ashland Pub 4-10: Jayson Apelquist finished 4-for-4 with two doubles and four RBIs in Game 1 for Marinelli. Phil Kelly and Matt Galatti chipped in with three hits each, with Kelly also adding a homer.
Joey DiRocco had a leadoff triple in the bottom of the eighth and went on to score on a single by John Bucci to help Marinelli rally for the second win.

Philly Express 14-24, Trophy Tavern 2-2: Rob Worrell held Trophy to only two runs and got offensive support from Tyler Lidstone and Matt Lowry, who had four hits apiece in Game One.
Lidstone added five more hits in Game 2 and finished 9-for-9 on the day. Minter Davis had a home run and seven RBIs in the second game, while Ray Albright checked in with four hits, two runs and two RBIs.

R.P. McMurphy's Shockers 22-21, Tir Na Nog Bar & Grill 11-6: Kevin Donahue, Andy Toland, Kevin Jolly, Dan Crown and Dan Gallagher all had home runs to lead the Shockers to the sweep. Toland finished with seven RBIs on the day, while Bill Toland went 6-for-6.
