Congratulations to Luau Bowers, the ASA of PA State Umpire-In-Chief, who was one of the recipients of the 2009 Award of Excellence that were given out at the 21st Biennial UIC Clinic held in Oklahoma City.
OKLAHOMA CITY, Okla. --- Over the weekend, the Amateur Softball Association of America (ASA) held its 21st Biennial UIC Clinic held at the Biltmore Hotel in Oklahoma City. With over 400 in attendance at the Saturday evening banquet, the ASA Umpire family gathered to recognize years of service, awards of excellence as well as the inaugural Merle O. Butler National award of Excellence.
The evening was highlighted by the 15 Regional Awards of Excellence and the inaugural Merle O. Butler National Award of Excellence that was given to Bernie Profato (Niles, Ohio) who is retiring from the ASA Umpire staff after 39 years. The crowd enjoyed lots of laughter as the memories from Profato's years were told.
