The organization of the Millennium Sunday Fall, Furey Men's Fall and Furey Coed Fall along with the "ASA of PA Charity Challenge Modified & Slow Pitch Championship" and the "Softball For A Cure Coed Tournament" is just about completed.
I have been organizing the above mentioned leagues and tournaments for over a month and I'm now ready to release the first update on the their status.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
ASA of PA Charity Challenge Modified Championship - The tournament that was scheduled for today was postponed due to rain and will be rescheduled depending on the availability of the Herbert Pennock Fields in Kennett Square (Chester County) next Saturday, August 29th.
Proceeds from the tournament will benefit Prostate Health International.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
ASA of PA Charity Challenge Slow Pitch Championship - The tournament will be played from Friday, August 28th through Sunday, August 30th at the Kelly Sports Sports Complex in West Chester and the Fields at Furey Road in Upper Chichester.
As of today, twenty-two teams have entered the tournament, which has an entry fee of $150 and a 3-game guarantee, and will have both "Competitive" and "Rec" Flight champions.
The deadline to enter a team in the tournament is Tuesday, August 25th.
Just like the modified division, the slow pitch division will benefit Prostate Health International.
To help with the fundraising efforts of the Charity Challenge Championships, t-shirts will be available to purchase at all tournament sites.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Millennium Sunday Fall Softball League - The league, which only can accept a maximum of thirty-two teams, has had fourteen new teams register for the upcoming season.
With six out of last years thirty teams not being able to field teams this year and with the expansion of the league to thirty-two teams, I will probably only be able to accomodate eight of the new teams who have registered.
I will be contacting all the new teams who registered for the league very soon with an update on their status.
The ASA Community Men's Fall Softball League, that is run by commissioner Bob Canfield and plays in the Upper Darby (69th Street Fields) and Havertown areas, currently has openings for two more teams.
Please contact me ASAP if your team would like to participate in this league this year.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Millennium Furey Fall Men's Softball League - New commissioner Larry McFadden has a lot to work with as an unprecedented ten new teams have registered for the league.
The Tuesday/Thursday doubleheader league can now expand from eight to twelve teams this year with the addition of Friday night.
The league plans on possibly having a six team "Competitive" and "Rec" Division with cross-over play during the regular season.
Larry will be contacting teams and scheduling his first league meeting soon. Until then, if you have any questions, you can contact him at 610-864-2927.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Millennium Furey Fall Coed Softball League - The Monday/Wednesday doubleheader league can accept a maximum of eight teams and with seven teams registered, only has an opening for one more team.
Please contact Steve Prescott, the new commissioner at 610-529-0510 or prescottsteven@yahoo.com if you have any questions or would like to enter a team in the league.
Steve will also be scheduling the league's first meeting and contacting everyone soon.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
"Softball For A Cure" Coed Softball Tournament - The one-day tournament that is being played at Camp Upland on Saturday, September 12th is closed to any new teams entering.
Tournament organizer Kristine Davis has had twenty teams enter the tournament.
Davis and her friends have put together the Coed Softball Tourney to help their Breast Cancer 3-Day walkers raise money.
All proceeds will go towards the walkers fundraising efforts for the fight against Breast Cancer.
"Softball For A Cure" will have both "Competitive" and "Rec" Flights, with a 3-game guarantee for each team.
