We will be holding a coed, one-pitch, wood bat tournament over Labor Day weekend (Friday, September 4th thru Sunday, September 6th) to benefit Kevin McDonald.
We will provide two wooden bats at each field for use in the tournament.
Kevin has spent countless hours working on our fields, upgrading our fields, running leagues, working with the county to extend our lease and heading the turf project for the soccer and football/lax fields at our Complex.
It would not be an overstatement to say that all of us owe our debt and gratitude to Kevin for allowing us to have fun playing softball at the Kelly Sports Complex.
Kevin has reached out to other leagues in the area as well, running several tournaments and representing our softball community with the utmost class.
With his escalting therapy costs, it would be a huge boost to Kevin and his family if we all got together to raise money to alleviate some of the pressure an injury like this inevitably causes.
TOURNAMENT HIGHLIGHTS
* Double elimination
* $20 per player ($10 to join new team after elimination)
* Minimum 3 women on the field at all times
* ALL players bat, a woman must bat every third batter
* Men & Women will hit a 12" softball
* Men must use a wooden bat. Women can use ANY non-altered bat
* Tournament will be held at the Complex and at Green Field with its short porch in left
* $5 donation for any ground rule (over the fence) home run
* Batters start with a 3-2 count. Foul is an out.
* Maximum 6 runs per inning except for last inning
* Games are limited to one hour
We also plan on having a home run derby at Green Field in the middle of the tournament and we also hope to raffle off some prizes.
To sign up for the tournament, please send an email to tourney@cccesl.com. We are accepting teams, groups of friends and/or individuals.
Please join us to have some fun for a good cause.
Registration for the tournament will close on August 31st. We have a limited number of spots so don't delay! Winners will receive a trophy.
Thanks,
Chris Esposito
