Guys,
As a District Six ASA Player Rep, I thought it would be a good idea to post what the protocol is for suspensions if they crop up - as one has this week.
I will use an example of a current suspension (without mentioning the player's name) to highlight the proper protocol for these procedures:
As of tonight, I have been informed that a player in our District has been suspended indefinitely in all ASA Leagues in District Six, for actions that occurred on March 31, 2012.
As the player rep, I immediately requested a speedy suspension hearing and the District has granted my request.
Schedules are currently being coordinated for the suspension hearing and upon the commencement of that hearing the length of the suspension will be determined by a three person committee made up of persons not affiliated with the matter at hand.
The suspended player will be present for the hearing, along with the player representative and other persons speaking on his behalf. Also present will be the accusing parties in the suspension.
At a suspension hearing, a suspension can be negotiated between all parties before speaking in front of the three-person committee assuming all parties are in 100 percent agreement. If no "plea bargain" can be made, the hearing will proceed as scheduled with the District Commissioner serving as the moderator.
It is important to note, that in any suspension determined at the hearing, that time served prior to the hearing counts toward the final suspension.
It is my intention, as the player representative, to broker the most fair outcome for the player and District.
