Hi Linda, my son Sam has been on lisinopril for about 2 years now for a leaky tricuspid valve so here goes i will answer as many as i can.
1. Sam hasnt had any side effects with it at all
2. Sam has a gastrostomy now but he did take it orally at first and having been on captopril before he much prefered lisinopril and didnt make a fuss.
3. Sam started his after his fontan so i cant tell you if his increased energy is due to the fontan, lisinopril or a mixture of both sorry
4.I dont think it is necessarily for life i think if things improve or if surgery is carried out it can be withdrawn, i think like most of these things it will depend on circumstances
5. We went to Portugal last year and we had to pay a £20 excess for Sam but that was because of his HLHS not the lisinopril, (just a point incase you didnt know if you fly medicines need to be in a see through bag and i also took a copy of Sams repeat perscription incase we had any trouble at customs)
6. Ive always found lisinopril to be a lot easier than captopril, the only little bit of advice i can give is if its given in liquid form some chemists have problems getting it so i always order at least a week before its actually needed.
Hope that helps if i can help anymore please shout
Kymm
by the way i should probably say Sam is 4 xxx
