Hi ECHOers.
I would first of all like to thank everyone, in particular, Pippa, for their comments and advice when I last posted on this subject....
I have today been at a development assessment for Lucy at our local CDC.
We had the most amazing doctor who not only had common sense and a nice manner, had tons of cardiac knowledge and knew Lucy's Evelina cardiologist- yay She was totally amazing and understood my concerns and understood the relationship between 22q deletion and TOF patients.
The assessment showed that Lucy's non-verbal communication is spot on for her age (she was seriously impressed with Lucy using Makaton!!) Her verbal skills however were around the 12 month mark, making her around 12 months behind. She has some immature motor skills, but on the whole she is pretty much where she should be other than with speech. Physically Lucy is fine, although she does have large tonsils (??!!)
The way forward is,
1, a blood test for 22q
2, a hearing test
3, a follow up in 4 months and then a referral to speech and language therapist.
Thank you all for your support. I know it's been a while since my original post, but I haven't forgotten your help.
I'll keep you posted on Lucy's progress, in particular the results of the 22q test.
Thanks everyone,
Amanda x x x
