Just one other thought: when we were in last week, I noticed that the ward was still quite bright in the evening when it got to 'bedtime' and I thought what a nightmare it must be when you have older children that you are trying to keep within a bedtime routine. I don't know if it's worth taking something like a buggy suncover that you could pop over the top of the cot just to shield some of the light out, and then once Mia's asleep, it could be taken off again for observations etc. It just seems like it's hard to get them off to sleep when it's bright and noisy with 'handover' etc.!
