Really pleased to hear you are through it....
Thank you so much for posting this information. This is exactly what my son has and the explanation of a 'cleft' has always been a bit confusing. The last appointment was very specific about the repair definitely involving open heart again - he is 6 now and will have the next op at approx your sons age. I didnt understand why they couldn't try a different technique if they can do valve repair through veins - but its the stitching of the cleft and delicate nature of this task that makes open heart essential apparently....!I'm sure one day they will try and do this via veins, but I guess we have to steel ourselves.
How do you prepare a 9 year old to face this operation? I would be really interested to know what you had to say and do etc....
