Baby signing is really good and definitely relieves frustration. They did it at the girls' nursery and I did it at home with them. Jasmine was amazingly communicative through sign and her spoken communication now is phenomenal - partly, I'm sure because of hanging out with Amber, but also I think, because she enjoyed communicating with signing so much! It's really good fun and also really useful in busy places like the playground, where you can 'check in' with each other. I am doing some basic stuff with Leo, although he's not yet got the co-ordination to sign. In fact, as he gets older, his delay is increasingly more evident. But that's ok! And I know that my using sign will help him make more sense of the world. I'm signed up for Makaton classes with our child development centre, so that I can build on the basics that I know.
