Hi
Just taken my little one (Patrick aged 6)for his six monthly check up (FYI - closed AVSD 4 yrs ago - remaining cleft and problems with mitral valve). He has been sent home with an ECG tape to record a potential irregular heartbeat for 24 hours. Just a little machine that is attached with tapes to his chest - he thinks it's like being a superhero with wires and a machine in his pocket!!
Anyone else experienced this? Is it likely he has an irregular 'regular' heartbeat because of his operation?
If he has to have a pacemaker has anyone else experienced this?
let me know.
By the way (for all the mums with little children who visit the Evelina) Patrick says it's the coolest place ever! The slide, the lifts - cant believe he thinks of the place like that - but isn't that great considering he gets prodded around and has to sit still everytime he goes!!
Because he was too little to speak when he first visited,my fears of what we inflicted on him (open heart surgery etc) clearly haven't caused him a problem now I can see this in the longer term - if only I had known!! Mothers torment!
