i hardly bought a thing as i couldn't really face it - i did however have a friend who had a box of baby stuff that she gave me and my mum washed. I felt safe with that as i would be giving it all back later whatever happened. i did also buy a pushchair/pram on ebay as i couldnt work out how to buy that straight after birth especially if i ended up having a section.
everything else i bought once we got home. we were in for a good 5-6 weeks though and i didnt miss having anything particularly - the hospital is so hot you dont have to dress them in much at all when you are in - in fact i dont think i dressed raph at all for the first few weeks - just vest and blanket.
You may have picked up from previous posts but the side fastening vests are the best coz you can open them when your babe is asleep when the docs come round and it doesnt wake them up whereas the over the top ones do.
