We just had a few front-opening babygros and a lovely blanket - they also advised us to get a dummy as jack couldn't feed orally. i didn't as i'm not very keen on them but regretted it when i arrived one day in intensive care to find a v. patient nurse letting jack suck her rubber-gloved little finger - apparently newborns have a strong sucking reflex!! we did ask jack's big sister to buy him a special little soft toy to keep him company in hospital. i couldn't bring myself to buy anything much, so much so that when we got discharged early after his surgery we had to dash round to borrow a car seat.
